Today I visited a local Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre in Burwood to announce a $20,000 grant to go towards much needed repairs and improving child safe areas at the refuge.

Helen, Katie and all their staff do amazing work in supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community. Their passion and genuine care for their clients shines through in everything they do.

As the local member I’m proud to be able to support such an important service.

In the 2016-17 Budget, the Turnbull Government announced $100 million funding for the ‘Third Action Plan’ – initiatives to combat domestic violence.

This funding was in addition to the $100 million Women’s Safety Package which was announced as the first act of the Turnbull Government.

We are determined to combat the scourge of domestic violence in our society.
