]]>Thank you to the fantastic staff and incredible students from Strathfield North Public School for hosting the Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, Education Minister Simon Birmingham, and me this morning.
Each child in Australia deserves the support and the opportunity to succeed. They deserve schools that are well and fairly funded and encourage the highest academic standards.
Our plan means real needs-based funding will continue to grow from record levels and is tied to reforms in those schools proven to boost student outcomes.

]]>Seeing robotics at work in person is a great way to end a week!
The FIRST Robotics Competition is a worldwide competition that brings together students and mentors to build robots that will compete against other teams – and it’s happening right here in Reid.
FIRST Australia (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) designs programs that motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in STEM, while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills. The government, via the National Innovation and Science Agenda, is investing more than $99 million from 2016-17 to 2019-20, to inspire participation and excellence in STEM among all Australians.
It was also great to see so many girls involved in the competition, which is a great sign for STEM careers into the future!

]]>Today we celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women while also calling for more to be done.
I’m blessed to have two brilliant daughters and an incredible wife, and I couldn’t be more proud of the three of them.
Let’s celebrate the achievements of our mothers, sisters and daughters. Let’s challenge bias and continue to campaign against all violence towards women.
Today we also held a charity BBQ to raise money for Women and Girls’ Emergency Centre, who have a local residence helping women and children in times of need. If you’d like to donate or get in touch to help, please visit their site: https://www.wagec.org.au

]]>I’m pleased to say that the video from the day is now available for viewing on the CSIRO website.
Currently, the complex is supporting missions including:
– Cassini spacecraft at Saturn
– Mars missions – including the Opportunity and Curiosity rovers;
– Messenger spacecraft currently orbiting Mercury;
– New Horizons spacecraft travelling to Pluto and beyond, and
– Voyager 1 and 2, which have been in space for over 37 years.
As well as supporting current missions, DSS36 will also provide support for the anticipated growth in deep space missions to be launched over the coming decade.

]]>On Remembrance Day we honour more than 102,000 Australians who have died serving our country
‘They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.’
