It was great to join the Concord Giants Football Club yesterday to announce a re-elected Turnbull Government will contribute $500,000 towards ground improvements at St Lukes Oval, Concord to allow the ground to accommodate local junior AFL clubs including the Giants and Drummoyne Power Junior AFL Club.
The popularity of AFL is fast growing in the inner west, and this financial support from the Turnbull Government will support our local clubs with some outstanding new facilities.
The funding will facilitate the completion of phase one of the proposed works including a refurbished amenities block, goal posts and ground lights.
Thanks to Sam Graham, Chief Executive of AFL NSW/ACT, Andrew Baxter, Concord Giants president, and Jeremy Stanwix, Drummoyne Power President for joinging us for the announcement, along with all the parents and kids that were there!

]]>Today, I’m delighted to announce that a re-elected Turnbull Government will contribute $1.3 million to Burwood Football Club and $1 million to Abbotsford Juniors Football Club (AJFC).
This money will go towards the redevelopment of the facilities at Campbell Park in Chiswick and Centenary Park Burwood. Our local sports clubs are the life blood of our community, contributing to the health and wellbeing of our children – I’m so proud to support them!
I played on these two grounds as a kid (albeit for Strathfield Strikers!) and some of my fondest memories are of coaching my son and daughter at these grounds. As your local member, I will ensure that families can continue creating their own special memories. Who knows, our kids could be the future Caltex Socceroos who are playing on Campbell Park or Centenary Park in the coming weekends!
Both Abbotsford Juniors and Burwood FC are important community organisations and these contributions will help them continue their brilliant work.
If Western Sydney Wanderers FC or Sydney FC need coaching assistance, I’m available whenever needed (with the sunnies!).
