]]>I am proud to announce that the Turnbull Coalition Government will provide $100,000 to expand Sydney Thunder‘s Leadership Program as part of our Government’s commitment to strengthening communities and promoting social cohesion. I backed this program when I was a backbencher and am genuinely thrilled I could once again help expand this program as Assistant Minister for Multicultural Affairs. It uses cricket as the platform to promote important messages around personal development and cultural harmony to boys and girls across a range of multicultural communities, including our very own community in Reid. This funding will almost triple the schools that will participate in this great initiative.
Concord High School’s future sporting starts were on hand to give me a hand(and batting tips), as well as Sydney Thunder legends and role models Fawad Ahmed and Hameed Kherkhah. Whilst my bowling and batting is not too bad, I have been told my selfie game could definitely improve. I was also convinced to join in on “the Dab” (the last photo) whatever that is?!?!

]]>Fawad’s story is remarkable. A former asylum seeker forced to flee persecution in Pakistan for his affiliation with a non-government agency that was educating women, to Australian cricket’s newest talent.
Best of luck to Fawad as he makes his cricket debut for Australia in the West Indies test series.
