Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting Bassam, one of Homebush Boys High‘s finest. Bassam is one of only a handful of students in NSW selected to attend the YMCA Youth & Government NSW Junior Parliament, where he will represent our community in debating important issues in our state and country, and put forward solutions with other young people from around NSW.

I have no doubt that Bassam will do a terrific job and look forward to a debrief in the coming weeks!

Well done Bassam!

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, nowhere does community spirit quite like Reid.

This morning, I had the pleasure of attending the Homebush Boys High School’s Volunteers Morning Tea, celebrating the amazing contributions these young men make in our local community. Whether it’s the Red Shield Appeal, helping out at Chalmers Road School, or getting involved with the World’s Greatest Shave, Homebush Boys High is always there for our community.

Well done to these fantastic young men and their wonderful teachers.

I am incredibly proud of Homebush Boys High School for their assembly last week to mark White Ribbon Day.

White Ribbon Day is the only national, male-led campaign in Australia taking a stand against men’s violence towards women.

As the father of two young girls, I am deeply passionate about the need to prepare young men before leaving school about respecting and caring for women.

Congratulations to the students at Homebush Boys High School for their passion and enthusiasm for the cause.

Congratulations to Shayini Velauthampillai, Shoumia Nithiananthan and Tuba Muzzaffar for running the ‘Give What You’ve Got Campaign’ aimed at raising social awareness and reaching out to young homeless people.

This is a very worthwhile cause and I am tremendously impressed by the effort that has been put in by the students to contribute towards alleviating the issues they feel passionate about.

Well done to Strathfield Girls High School for raising the most money and to Homebush Boys High School for collecting the most clothing.

You guys rock!!
