]]>It is small and family businesses like those in my own electorate that contribute hugely to Australia’s economic development. It was good to see how the work of the Australia Chinese Youth Business Association enables stronger bonds and closer partnership among Burwood local merchants.

]]>The Turnbull Government this week announced a grant of $500,000 to the University of Western Sydney to support its Launch Pad incubator program which is growing 30 digital technology start-ups on campuses in Werrington, Parramatta and Liverpool.
It was excellent visiting and meeting with start-up developers at the Werrington campus and see in action how the incubator program provides important support to budding entrepreneurs.
The incubator helps them take an idea or concept through to the stage where it was a viable business creating jobs of the future. The UWS Launch Pads really are Western Sydney’s answer to Silicon Valley, with an amazing range of high tech businesses coming through over the past four years.

]]>Minister Laundy, who was present at the building’s opening, had secured $1 million of funding for Abbotsford in 2016 to ensure that the development of Campbell Park was a success.
The president of the Abbotsford Juniors Football Club Gilbert Lorquet is grateful to have attained this Federal funding for his Club and community. “Today the world class quality and standard of our clubhouse finally matches our ambitions and need of the community,” Lorquet said, before the building was officially launched.
The Abbotsford Juniors Football Club has broken new ground in the last few years. In 2018, the club has registered 1,072 players across 82 teams, and are now the largest Club in the City of Canada Bay and the 4th largest club in the Canterbury District. They have also seen Women’s Football grow in the last 5 years, with 4 Women’s teams and 15 Girls teams this season. Last season they made history with the first ever win in Football NSW’s Champion of Champions, with their Under 18s becoming the best in the State. These achievements reflect Reid’s outstanding sporting accomplishments, and the new facilities will only further support the community in their successes.

]]>Minister Laundy was instrumental in helping the Guild acquire a grant to assist with the rebuilding of the centre.
“After years of hard work by so many it has been a privilege to be involved in some small way to help these visionaries achieve their dream,” he said. “My great hope is that these new premises breathe new life into an ancient art and craft.”
The organisation has received a number of state and federal grants in order to sustain its work among the community of Reid, which includes workshops, courses and inclusive community activities.
