]]>Homebush West is now set for a $20m redevelopment with 26 new classrooms.
This is a great result for our community! Goes to show the power of local grassroots campaigning and effective representation in parliament.
The population of Homebush is set to grow to 31,000 by 2050. Developments like this help ensure that the needs of future generations are adequately met.
Well done to all involved, and thank you to NSW State Education Minister Adrian Piccoli, Homebush West P&C, Suzanne Ellis, and the teachers and parents who have worked tirelessly for our children’s future.

]]>Earlier today, I joined Federal Minister for Health, Sussan Ley MP at Homebush West Public School to discuss the Government’s Child and Adult Public Dental Scheme. This is the largest ever Commonwealth investment in public dental services and will focus on the prevention of oral health issues.
State and Territory governments will receive more money from the Commonwealth than they have ever received for public dental services.
This replaces Labor’s policy that had seen $4 million worth of incorrect claims being investigated.
The Turnbull Government will invest a total of almost $5 billion over the next four years to improve dental outcomes, including $2.1 billion over 5 years on the Child and Adult Public Dental Scheme.
Every year more than 63,000 Australians hospitalised because of poor oral health, this is largely avoidable. This investment in prevention makes sure that the children are the direct beneficiaries and will benefit every child under 18 in the Reid community.

]]>Back in March we introduced the Sun Smiles project in Reid which, through early intervention and education, provides children with the opportunity to better understand oral health and gives them a chance to change their lives for the better. It is brilliant that the Sydney University Oral Health staff and students are back working with the children of Homebush West Public School this week.
