Science and innovation are a key focus for the Turnbull Government, and through the National Innovation and Science Agenda, we are providing long-term funding certainty for cutting-edge, national research infrastructure to ensure Australia remains at the forefront of global discovery. Including providing $520 million over the next decade for the Australian Synchrotron, $294 million for the Square Kilometre Array, and $1.5 billion in the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy over the next decade.
We have also tasked an Expert Working Group led by the Chief Scientist to develop a National Research Infrastructure Road-map to guide our future investment decisions.
These initiatives will ensure that Australia’s researchers have the infrastructure they need to keep delivering world-class results.
