Australians are among the most generous and welcoming people on earth. Our responses to humanitarian and natural disasters has often led the world.
The images we now see arising from people fleeing terror in Syria and Iraq are truly shocking and we as a nation should contribute appropriately to the response.
I do not wish to push a political agenda here; this is not left and right but rather right and wrong. I speak not for political allegiances but for the common humanity we all share.
Our way of life, our Australian spirit, should be the driving force behind our response, we are the land of the fair go. Let us stand together and reach out a hand to support people who need our help.
